I’m excited to reveal the cover for my new novel WESTERLY. This gorgeous painting by Rebecca Aldernet represents so much to me and perfectly captures the coastal settings in Ireland and Maine. WESTERLY is about motherhood, sisterhood, secrets, silencing, and women, facing forward, into the wind.

In March of 1945, the US Army issued this "fact sheet" to guide conversations with soldiers on the topic of fascism, paying particular attention to the ongoing threat that domestic fascist movements posed to the US. Their analysis of what a homegrown US fascism would look like is interesting.

This is quite the post.

1. He unambiguously directs his AG to go after those who investigated him for his crimes

2. He admits being influenced by online chatter

He is mob bossing out in the open, because he knows he has corrupted every federal law enforcement agency into submission.

I know everyone is consumed with other news, but this is a big fucking deal: The Trump administration says that IUDs and the Pill are actually abortions.

Here's what USAID told the NYT about the $10m in birth control they plan to destroy.

This makes me physically ill. @warren.senate.gov @whipkclark.bsky.social can we please get rid of this clown before he gets us all killed? Please?
RFK Jr: We need to stop trusting the experts... Trusting the experts is not a feature of science or democracy, it's a feature of religion and totalitarianism.

Hello! New to using this platform, but thought to share a piece I wrote for @theguardian.com about long distance train travel and the lineage of writers who have traversed Europe by rail.

James Joyce went by train from Dublin to Trieste. A hundred years on, it’s a very different experience
It is more than a century since Joyce crossed Europe by rail but there is still inspiration to be found on the overland journey to Trieste

Absolutely psyched for this novel!
Over the moon to share this glowing review from @publisherswkly.bsky.social, describing Last Night at the Disco as a “hilarious novel” with a “deliciously unlikable antihero” and adding, “Readers will be hooked by this tragicomic romp.” Link to full review below. #booksky #lastnightatthedisco

“In the coming years, as publishers do the important work of fighting book bans locally and nationally (with PRH leading the charge) and protecting their copyrights from being stolen by even larger corporations to train large language models…” Maybe publishers could consider not giving them deals?🤔
