Loy Krathong is the Thai lantern festival, taking place at the end of their lunar calendar and often in November. Lanterns are lit in biodegradable (often bread or flowers) boats and sent to see, meant to represent the Buddhist concept of letting go. #FolkyFriday

If you are near a body of water near Obon in Japan, and you see mists on the water, don't wait for it to get closer. This is a Funayūrei, a Ghost Ship in the fog, full of resentful drowned sailors and prepared for you to join their crew. #MythologyMonday

In Norse folklore, mayweed was known as baldersbrår, meaning “Baldur’s eyelashes.” Named for Baldur, god of light, beauty, and purity, these flowers, with their lash-like petals, were said to symbolise his radiance, and the gentle peace he brought to the world. #FairytaleTuesday

In #JapaneseFolklore there's a belief that objects that are very old are able to gain a spirit and transform into a type of #yokai known as tsukumogami. In the case of musical instruments this can occur if they're stored away for long periods of time and are no longer played.

I hadn't pulled cards in a while, this morning I grabbed my oracle deck. Pulled twice and got the same result. 🤯Coincidence? The message is to have faith, trust that everything lines up for the greater good. My friends and family can attest, I do this. So maybe this card is meant for one of you?

Did you know?

In the Victorian era, people still practiced the old custom of souling on All Hallows’ Eve.

Poor children went door to door at night, singing haunting “souling” songs in exchange for soul cakes.

Each cake was said to help release a soul from Purgatory.

If ever in Cleveland, consider visiting the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft & Magick. They focus on “celebrating the culture of magic and the occult, as well as educating the public on the myths and misconceptions about witches.”

What are some of your favorite mind bending movies? I love “The Waking Life” by Richard Linklater. The film explores the nature of reality, meaning of life, and other philosophical ideas.

I've been learning about how different cultures have used crystals and stones for healing/energy work. Do you have any experience with them? I'd love to see what you have and hear about your favorites! I know very little on the subject.
