The system is designed to dampen personal opinions as much as possible, both from inside the cartel and from potential opposition. The representation of parties in political institutions is determined mostly by a consensus agreement, and changes gradually following frequent policy surveys. Nominations are determined by the very institutions in power, so election results are usually predetermined, although occasionally constituencies may have two candidates to decide between personal qualities or to change the party balance. Media are quite tightly controlled, with party-balance campaigns being presented as absolutely non-partisan and fully based on policies (even though the candidates do very much belong to parties), although party affiliations are common knowledge once the elections are over. The system used is FPTP: it allows dealing with seats individually, and elections are staggered to dispel the risk of any political momentum forming. Occasionally new parties have been formed. It has happened when an existing party became too broad and dominant (for example one for progressive issues in the early 20th century?), when a given set of policies was found to be insufficiently represented (for example the green movement?), or even to defuse an opposition movent by integrating it in the cartel. The east coast of the island goes farther east and the smaller island near it is pushed accordingly, the southeastern bay is slightly narrower, the mainland to the north is slightly farther out. The west coast is marked as to-be a rough coastline; farther out to the west south-ward currents are noted, with the mention “warm currents (very rainy)”. Following the west coast and slightly inland are a series of north-south “Jura-like folds”. Similar folds appear on the lesser island to the north, and ever farther north, on the mainland, the axis continues with an “Andes-like orogen”. An arrow in the corner marks the dominant winds: they are prevailing westerlies from a Ferrel cell, blowing towards the south-east.

Progress update: out of 581 constituencies (number confirmed; all located in the JORF), I have: - Geographical definition by cantons etc for all 581 constituencies (completed) - Double-checked names of the elected deputies (from the JORF Lois et décrets up to 20 March) for 388 constituencies (67% done, 193 left) - Full, raw, un-crosschecked vote counts by candidate in both rounds (from the verification of powers up to 10 June) for 481 constituencies (83% done, 100 left) -- of which 24 pass all sanity checks right away (4% done, 557 left lol) -- and of which 68 have some sort of protest or additional info mentioned (12%) - Un-crosschecked first round candidate names and labels (from Le Petit Parisien up to 9 May) for 404 constituencies (70% done, 177 left) -- of which 215 have vote counts for at least one candidate (37% done, 366 left) - Raw results from the Tableau des Élections for none of them (0% done, 581 left) (i don't know how i've been able to do this so far °_°)
