I said this years ago - I said it’ll be the end of the free movement of goods and people . You would need to prebook a departure . Forget urgent last minute consignments . Thing of the past .
It is getting harder to leave this wonderful island full of flags
Well apart from having to either establish your company in Europe or register with them for an EoRI - there’s also a much more complex paperwork issue to contend with
I can’t understand why this hasn’t had any traction in the media - it’s a BIG thing . Anyone and everyone travelling by road needs this in 4 weeks on paid work .
In a nutshell : The goods are owned by the same company - its empty packaging . It’s simply returned back to France - then back to the U.K. . In order to carry on doing this post sept 1st - they’ll have to keep “buying “ it back or “selling “ it to themselves just to cross the border …
For 6 years I’ve transported goods from the Uk -EU for the same customer in both countries.they own the goods . They have no commercial resale value . From 01/09 they are going to have to “sell” the goods back to themselves every week for customs . And pay for it ..
Incase you thought the Windsor framework reduced the customs formalities for NI … erm no it didn’t . It’s about to get more challenging for some come September …..
As for outbound freight - well that’s about to change for the worse including anyone moving house …
It’s the overnight stopping , mainly in France as can’t sleep in the van even with beds if 3.5 or under which in my opinion is stupid . Leaving van unattended whilst doing 9 hour rest not ideal . Short trips ok - long jobs take a lot longer now .
It’s actually not a bad thing . Let’s be honest vans been running around unchecked for years . I have my CPC and operate in my own capacity with no reliance on others . Just need a degree of transport planning now .
