Literally cannot.

It's literally in the treaty and pretty much the whole point of it.

The Liberal-National Coalition's plan to abandon Australia’s net zero target is a plan to let climate change rip.

It’s deadly negligence that would leave Australians facing more fires, floods and heatwaves, while hiking up power bills for Aussie families.

The Fed Coalition's reported plan to abandon Aus’s net zero target is a dangerous retreat from reality.

According to Climate Council research, abandoning net zero aligns with >3°C of global heating & would spell disaster for our climate, economy & household bills.

Two things to bear in mind given the words you’ll hear over and over today in Australia: (a) the louder “the national interest” is invoked, the more likely it masks a narrow political interest, and (b) functionally, delay amounts to denial. #NetZero

Also, now seems like a great time for a reminder that one of the chief Australian influencers who has rallied people against Net Zero is facing 27 sex offence charges. Such trustworthy. Wow.

Maybe we should make...
"Oh you're against net zero? Like Alan Jones?"
... a thing?

What if we had no electricity and everything ran on fossil fuels?

This ad keeps making me chuckle.

Enjoy if you have not seen it or rewatch as it is just gold.

Bread and circuses.
Easy on the bread.
Extra circus.
Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.

If you haven’t seen much news about Palestine lately, it’s not because the killing stopped.

Israel has reduced coverage of the genocide, killing ~250 Palestinian journalists since Oct 7th.

Since the ceasefire, Israel has rejected 107 requests to bring aid into Gaza
and continued attacks.

I believe we’re waiting for a political class that isn’t afraid of falling or stagnating house prices because they’re not personally heavily invested in investment property and its rigged, discounted capital gains, so sympathise with ordinary people instead of just the wealthiest echelon.

Building more homes where people most want to live will make housing cheaper and create wealthier, healthier, and more vibrant cities. What are we waiting for? buff.ly/iKBgwgX

A thing I’ve been trying with climate deniers and anti-renewables folk in social media comments lately:
Empathy

Someone posts something that’s not true? I don’t target them. I write:
“Whoever told you this was lying to you. I googled it. Here’s the facts. Suggest you stop trusting that source.”
