I figure either way he would have known. Either by being an immortal who lived there (my preferred version) or by being an experiment alive since the dark age of tech. I feel like the dark age would have had some grasp of history.

That's fair. Especially the stuff that emphasizes that everything is just a never ending shit show. Even the Orks and Tyranids have some interesting biological stuff going on but catholicism 2.0 combined with space beaurocracy can get stale quick.

I'm more prone to deep diving on the Mechanicus side, but they've also fleshed out the whole Aeldari/Drukhari stuff a LOT since I really looked close.

They also never switch sides, which is not something I've ever read a lore reason that they couldn't really do. The difference is mostly framed as ideological with the Aeldari having to maintain control as opposed to lunatic hedonism. No one ever said fuck it, time to retire?

It's one of the reasons I like the Rogue Trader game since it puts you in a position with a little bit of latitude around that stuff and shows a certain amount of ambivalence toward xenos among some parts of society.
