I picked up the free set of minis for the Delian Tomb #drawsteel starter adventure, and had to join up because I loved the artsyle and accessibility. That set me to making paper terrain to match, and it works great!

Would explaining different game systems in terms of using various frames/tools to build stuff help break that view down? Like DnD is the big name brand that's been coasting on legacy, but there are a bunch of newer, purpose-built tools that perform better in their niche.

Of course there's also the tactical missteps, where we're occasionally quite glad that we have two Revenants in the party. Positioning matters, and it feels great when you realize how to zone and kite the enemy as a team!

I've been playing my dragon knight Tactician with @sterling2063.bsky.social since last December as the game wrapped up playtesting, and it's been glorious. Some of my favorite combat moments don't involve me rolling anything, just pointing my allies at a vulnerable target and saying "Go."

I am gradually assembling my in-person table for Draw Steel, and I'm just so excited to run at a physical table again and not through Discord.

Running games for my friends wherever they've been scattered to the winds is great, but in my heart I'm an analog GM, longing to share dinner and a story.
