While I do plan to read the book after season 1 of the show wraps up, I’m holding off because I really appreciate the amazing storytelling the show is doing.

And the cinematography is doing a shit ton is storytelling showing how much Shane and Ilya have in common in by showing them each in almost identical shots, both of them losing a game to the other and both of them being check out while their parents talk to other people about them.

Like I see people talking about Ilya being hard to read on the show and I’m confused because Connor Storrie is acting his ass off in these small quiet moments where you can see plan on his face that Ilya is falling in love with Shane and absolutely terrified about it.

These actors, Connor Storrie (Ilya) and Hudson Williams (Shane), are so skilled in micro expressions that speak volumes whether is a moment of flirtation antagonism, like the shower scene, or deep conflicting emotions, like in the clip in the previous post.

that as a viewer of the show I don’t think are necessary because much of the info they’re providing from the books is already in the show.

In the performances of the actors and the cinematography. The visual language of the shows is rich and layers. I feel spoiled as a fan of visual media.

I will say, if you’re on TikTok I highly recommend Grapie’s posts on her experience of reading Wuthering Heights. They’re honestly more entertaining than the book.
