to be clear: I'm not against alt text, I think anything that improves accessibility for the disabled improves accessibility for everyone
but I am firmly against bullying, entitlement, and ordering people how they choose to express or communicate

personally I think art is a language in of itself and alt-text is closer to localizing than it is just repeating description of an image. it's always nice to have accessibility to more languages or a means to, but it's not on the individual to spend personal time and energy to go the extra mile

personally I think "it's visual, so no" and "don't want scraping" are valid reasons to not alt-text. not wanting to alt-text is a valid reason to not alt-text. It's an opt-in feature, it's down to a person's choice and it can be for any reason. no one's entitled to someone's personal labor.

the actual reason for this is so that robots can be easily plugged into human roles. the more human-like a robot is, the more readily it can replace a human.
one of the things I really do not understand is why so much of the development of robots seems to be focused on making them bipedal like humans. Why? It's an insane allocation of resources when it would be much easier to give them three or four "legs" or come up with some new system
