A fleshling who's compelled to think too much about Transformers, Metroid, and occasionally other stuff. Writes about robots to get them out of his head. He/him. https://childrenofprimus.com/news-reviews/category/blog-bots

Online, maybe. But not physically, I think.

Lastly, I got Wasp for my birthday, and haven't reviewed him (yet). He's a fun, intricate figure, but really small, feeling like bad value at Deluxe price, even with all the engineering and parts they packed in. But his Bumblebee pre-tool is in these packs, for a price that feels way more worth it.

Next, we've got Legacy Knock-Out, who's a retool of Studio Series 86 Jazz, reviewed here. I found Jazz to be competent, but a bit soulless, like he existed to check a box. Maybe the Knock-Out retooling adds a bit of soul: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Studio Series 86 Deluxe Jazz - Children of Primus
You know who needs to be in more modern Transformers fiction? Jazz. Back in the 80s, he was Optimus Prime’s second in command, and managed to be one of the few 1984 Autobot Cars to actually get a dece...

Remember when Legacy Cosmos was super-rare? That's definitely not the case now, and we're all richer for it, because he's a very good figure. If you still don't have one, this is another great chance to own it: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy United Deluxe Cosmos - Children of Primus
This is an important, nigh-legendary Transformers release for a few reasons, but before I get into that, let’s talk about who Cosmos is. It all began with

I don't own Armada Wheeljack, but I've handled a ton of the Siege Sideswipe tooling it's using, and it's always been a solid workhorse of a carformer. Here's the last version I looked at: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy Evolution Deluxe G2 Universe Sideswipe - Children of Primus
The Walmart-exclusive Toxitron Collection is a wonderful thing (minus the “Walmart-exclusive” bit). As I said when I reviewed the line’s version of Mirage, the idea behind it is that the entire line-u...

Tarantulas, on the other hand, was a pretty good Beast Wars update. Maybe not the strongest one, but Kingdom/ Legacy's Beast updates were mostly strong offerings, so the bell curve's a bit skewed. Either way, he makes the 2-pack with him and Elita worth it: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy Deluxe Tarantulas - Children of Primus
Kingdom was so close to completely updating the cast of the first season of Beast Wars, which is why I’m glad that Legacy is picking up the stragglers, to finish it off, even if they’re also laying do...

"This is a weird one. There’s a lot of flaws, but also she’s also a lot of fun?" was my conclusion about Minerva, the new-head-retool of the Elita-1 available in these sets. Read more to figure out what I'm talking about: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy Deluxe Minerva - Children of Primus
The original Transformers animated series may have ended in 1987, but over in Japan, they kept it going (ignoring the brief fourth season), releasing three full-length anime TV show sequels over the r...

This is stretching it, because the Quake that you can buy in these sets is a very extensive retool of Skullgrin. But the original figure is a dark-horse favorite of mine, so hopefully some of those good vibes got passed along to the retool: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy Deluxe Skullgrin - Children of Primus
Skullgrin’s interesting to me, because he’s an actor. He wasn’t supposed to be characterized as one, but being an actor is the one thing he did in his most well-known appearance, so he’s forever an ac...

Shadow Striker's fine, but not great. I've since picked up the Side Burn retool that's in these packs, though I never got around to reviewing it. A deal like this is a good time to check the tooling out, though I've never handled the Nucleous that he comes with: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy Evolution Deluxe Cyberverse Universe Shadow Striker - Children of Primus
There aren’t enough female Transformers in general, and there especially aren’t enough female Transformer villains. Throughout the 80s, I’m pretty sure we literally only had Nightbird, and she wasn’t ...

I legitimately believe every Transformers collector should own Legacy G1 Optimus, so if you don't have one, now's also the time to get him. Here's why: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy United Deluxe G1 Universe Optimus Prime - Children of Primus
Earlier this year, a very interesting Optimus Prime figure was released by Takara. The first in a Transformers toyline called Missing Link, the idea was that it was a replica of the original 1984 toy,...

Gears is amazing. He does nearly everything right, and it's another "everyone should own one" situation. If you don't have one, then get him. You get a free Deluxe Shard this time, too! childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy United Deluxe Gears, with Bonus Review - Children of Primus
For a 1984 original, it’s kind of odd that there hasn’t been many updates of Gears over the years. Maybe his grumpy personality turns the designers off. Or maybe it’s the fact that Bob Budiaski seemin...

TFOne Optimus has a lot of little things that bug me (odd shoulders, a pop-off pelvic plate, a vehicle mode that's visibly a folded-up guy), but he's still got enough goodness to him (like the tiny holdable Matrix!) that I came out with positive feelings: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Studio Series Deluxe Optimus Prime (Transformers One) - Children of Primus
So, Transformers One! I never really wrote about the movie here, thanks to being knee-deep in getting married around the time it came out, which is a shame (well, not

Chromia's not terribly accurate to Cyberverse, but I still like the actual toy, along with her cool Synthwave colorscheme, and how she reminded me of the CHUG era of vibes-based character updates. Plus, she pairs well with Legacy Windblade: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Legacy United Deluxe Cyberverse Universe Chromia - Children of Primus
Here’s one I got mostly for the colors, because I love some Synthwave-type future aesthetics. But it being a figure of a good character doesn’t hurt, either. So, Chromia. She started out as a characte...

Origin Bumblebee is an excellent figure on multiple levels, and I think everyone should give him a try. I've never handled Breakdown, but their set's worth it just for Bee: childrenofprimus.com/bot-reviews-...
Bot Reviews: Transformers: Buzzworthy Bumblebee Deluxe Origin Bumblebee - Children of Primus
To properly start this off, let’s go back to my review of Skiff, an unofficial Bumblebee figure created by the now-defunct MAAS Toys. Here’s what I said at the start of that writeup: Back when Transfo...
