Rebecca Esho Greenslade's chapter in the book 'Creative Disruption: Psychosocial Scholarship As Praxis' draws on Sara Ahmed’s figure of the feminist killjoy, to examine the urgencies and challenges of killjoy work within clinical practice. Email [email protected] for a copy!
Excerpt from the chapter The Clinician as Killjoy (Without Killing Joy) by Rebecca Esho Greenslade:

I am interested in what a feminist therapeutics needs to do to actualise its radical potential. I am interested in returning to feminist therapy’s past in order to re-imagine a feminist therapy for the present. Lola Olufemi “calls for a feminism that is expansive, that builds from relations of care and that recognizes that feminist work is justice work” (Ahmed, 2023, p. 284). I am interested in feminist therapy’s part in this work, in how our training and experiences as both therapists and feminists can support re-imagining structures of care and ways of being in relationship with each other. This may mean transgressing and subverting some of the therapeutic orthodoxies we have been trained in. This will mean killjoy work.

There isn’t anything else to say. What is happening in Gaza is a collective shame. And some people could act, they have the power to act, and they are doing nothing, except meaningless platitudes. We are 72 hours or 48 hours or 24 hours or 12 hours from this being irreversible and: nothing.
