And these issues don't weigh on me too much, but I do think it helped the feeling that I had outgrown the target audience of the book, because I had a better understanding of history than the author. The rest of the story is, as far as I can tell, well researched, but... yeah

To explain more the historical issues, all fashion words are Regency specific ones despite being set in 1897, it mentions the Spanish flu despite that starting at the end of WWI, and part of the plot hinges on the mc's little brother being away at boarding school, but he's not 11 yet

If I had been sixteen when I found this book, it would have been a 10/10 no questions asked. Honestly, the only real problem with it is that I'm not 16 anymore. There's some issues with a couple historical facts, but it's a good book!

This book was a lot. I struggled through the first half, despite being hooked, but the second half was good. I have beef with some choices (Arthur Conan Doyle??? What??) but honestly, I quite liked it. It could have used another draft tho

I loved how different the two protagonists were, and how they approached similar stuff in very different ways. Some bits were a bit too fast, and it annoyed me how Kit was just an idiot in figuring out the plot twist. But I loved it
