It's the style! The french bow frogs were narrower, and the grip was different. German bows were wider and had a more relaxed grip for better control.

Took nearly a week to confirm since it qas at my parents, but he is totally playing a 4/4 full sized bass with a bad grip with a german bow.

How do I know?
I play(ed) with a German Bow and own a 3/4 size bass.

You *should* be able to install it normally on Desktop mode, then add it as a non-steam game, and launch it that way on SteamDeck. Don't need to interact with steam systems that way and should bypass any issues like that.

I was going to play something else, but XIV does work pretty well on my deck. There was a brief bit of finagling, but was ok.

I am running the steam version, if that helps.
