"This is a town where people meet people"
XとYが出会う[Place] is generally how you use 出会う when you're describing a place where multiple things meet.
Not sure how to explain what the と after the 2nd ひと does though

I really, really need to play Brandish one day

Just had an earthquake this morning but other than that it's been good

And following from that, the remake is ONLY the first scenario currently, and I haven't seen any news of them remaking wizardry 2 or 3

Some considerations:
I haven't really seen the Apple II version get recommended much
DOS and NES versions have bugs that can make the game harder
The first 3 Wizardry games were meant to be played together. Multiple ports facilitate this by releasing the 3 as a compilation

I definitely see it as the former. I think RPGs have innovated over the years, especially in the storytelling department. Wizardry (and its direct descendants such as Dragon Quest) feel like the distillation of the core elements of what makes an RPG fun to play

Generally I'd recommend any of the console ports (especially llylgamyn saga) or the remake. All of them are faithful to the original apple ii version to varying degrees.

"nobody gets to tell me how I should use my platform" is so rich coming from the quintessential gaming industry sellout.

I think this is the case for much more than just taste

Fun fact, there is no loot of worth on the third floor either. You are just sent on a wild goose chase of lying signs, spinners and pits all for the sake of finding nothing. No keys, no treasure, fuck all

true, you gotta do it for the urge to complete the map

well, it at least makes learning the floor had NOTHING in it a bit less painful at least lol

I succumbed to the need to complete the map
Well, to the extent I am willing to anyways

The added anxiety of "Oh fuck I have to navigate this with most of my party dead" is so fucking good.

I fucking love dealing with this shit in wizardry. yes give me this insanely long corridor of pure darkness right after I just barely escaped a difficult encounter that killed my healer and another party member while leaving my allies in critical condition. yes give me that stress of being lost

Genuinely one of the most tense moments you can have in an RPG is just feeling completely lost while your party is on its last legs

These were all back to back. can the game please just give me the way down lol are there even stairs here? I found the lift but I hopefully want to map out the whole floor

I had this on a demo disc as a kid. I was absolute enamored with it but not once in my life had I encountered a real copy. Still need to play this at some point.
