@adafruit.com Any plans on making a multiple channel ADC for the new Raspberry Pi 5? I’m looking for off-the-shelf boards to create a low cost underwater passive acoustic recorder.

Surviving week one of being a #professor...

Question: How do people get any #research done?

I feel like I need to get an assistant to start answering my emails and filling out forms. Do I need to invest in cloning #technology?

Hi #AcademicSky & #AcademicChatter!

What advice would you give to a new assistant #professor?

Advice from those in the #ocean and #marine #science and #engineering space about starting a #lab would be much appreciated!

I'm starting in 3 days!

Ok now where’s this view cause this is way better than faculty housing lol

Thanks Carlotta! I laughed out loud at the elephant line. Yup, got to learn to take it one day at a time. And keep track of everything weekly or not I’ll forget!

Thanks! Yup, got to remember the good stuff amongst all the politics is why I wanted this position in the first place.

Thanks Zen! I hate all the unwritten rules already… I’ve been writing them down as I go but the thing with unwritten rules is that they usually change all the time.
fishysounds.bsky.social
Thanks Randye! Yup, I keep finding projects that I started but never finished. Time to make it a list!
fishysounds.bsky.social
Thanks Steve! I’m trying to keep one day a week meeting free but yup, I’m looking at my schedule and it’s just meeting after meeting lol.

Hi Jen! That’s super exciting! I’ll definitely be reaching out to her when she arrives! Tell her to fell free to reach out to me if she needs any moving advice, etc. before arriving.
fishysounds.bsky.social
Thanks! This is great advice! I’d love to chat both group setup and science in the new year if you’ve got some time.

I’ve done a very through analysis of salty drift and the root cause, and I have thoughts…

Yes to more evaluation.

It’s totally a sensor issue.

The trends are real.

And there’s a lot more insight to be gained from a sensor-based analysis. Salinity is a computed property.
