Another of the biggies that Doug has made. They take hours of slip trailing to decorate them! So much surface to explore.
I made a big pot, and Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social decorated it. This will be for an exhibition at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh if it comes out well 🙂

Doug's been making big pots, I've been trailing miles of slip! I lost count at 850 ish dots.
@fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social Hannah, decorating one of the big pots that I threw last week. This is for an upcoming exhibition at the Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh in April

We got our power back this evening, remarkable considering the vast amounts of damage from the storm. Huge thanks to all those working hard to reconnect folk. It's been a bonus, sitting by the fire reading by candlelight.
The stars have been phenomenal!

Well @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social Hannah and I were on the telly this evening, demonstrating slipware techniques on the Repair Shop. It wasn't too bad.

The section about Lockerbie was very moving, I remember it very well

The Repair Shop on the Road - Series 1: Dumfries and Galloway - A Book for Lockerbie
The team help commemorate the victims of the Lockerbie bombing, new automata expert Michael tackles a clockwork train, and Kirsten gets hands-on with medieval slipware pottery.

On the telly tonight apparently.
So, we're on telly tonight on The Repair Shop on the Road. We will be cringing and hiding behind the sofa. It's being shown in Scotland tonight and on iplayer, then the rest of the UK, next month. Here we @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social are with ceramics restorer Kirsten Ramsay, back in July

@theslipwareman.bsky.social has his hands on the trailer for #therepairshop
My hands (and belly) were on the telly last night in Scotland. They'll be on the telly in England in February. One thing that's apparent is that I haven't tidied up since June. A shot from the telly on the left and my wheel this evening on the right.

Four big pots completed, ready to deliver to Kirkcudbright Galleries later this week, much relief from Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social and myself

Lovely fun in the snow with the wee ones yesterday. Not a bad end to the school holidays.
Snow was just a nuisance to me until I had small children.

The perfect end to the Christmas holidays with @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social

These are for an exhibition at Kirkcudbright Galleries later this month. Our first event of 2025.
Happy New Year!
Our big pots are on their way through the kilns. The first one is now finished and awaiting its three companions. Number two will join it tomorrow. Here's Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social, paining on glaze

We're making pots for Kirkcudbright Galleries exhibition at the moment.
We're still working on the big pots. All four are thrown now, and @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social Hannah is getting them decorated so they can be drying over the next few days, ready for firing. Thank goodness that there's an elf here to help 🙂

This is a tall, slab built vase made by Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social and a moneybox I made, topped with small birds and a cuckoo whistle, inspired by antique versions that were made in the country potteries of Britain for centuries

We've had Border News filming in the workshop today. Our two little ones, Pippin and Fred, make sgraffito decorated brooches, which they sell to raise funds for the local food bank. Last year, they raised £851. This year, they're on course to beat that total, bless them ❤️

We had a visit today from Adrian from the amazing Northern Kilns. He fitted a new lid to the kiln that Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social bought from them twenty years ago. It's been brilliant, and the new lid should last another twenty, even if I don't!

Hannah @fitchandmcandrew.bsky.social and I are thrilled, flattered, honoured, and overwhelmed to have had a piece each of our work purchased by the V&A for their permanent collection. They are currently on show in 'Studio Ceramics and the V&A' in the ceramics galleries.
