they just feel more animated to suit the show's style. Dave still screams "I'm SO fucking cool and I totally DO NOT have a raging need for attention." he feels more adapted to a modern audience--stoicism isn't really the mark of a coolkid nowadays, I think.

I guarantee you anyone complaining about the cursing probably hasn't reread the early stuff in a long while. It could've been a LOT worse.

tbf I don't mind them altering characterization a smidge to better adapt their personalities on-screen, especially Dave. it suits him imo.
