I make stuff. Sometimes it's drawn, sometimes it's pixellated, sometimes it's playable, and other times it's spat out of a 3D printer.

Oh, I'm well aware of what ye meant, but figured I might as well confirm this as a PC thing lol

It's being made primarily for my Linux desktop (personal project after all lol), with a Windows build to be looked into later.

Despite the focus on games, since this is nothing more than a front end for bash scripts, there's really no restriction to what ye can run with this. And I'm sure there are plenty of alternative solutions that are probably better. But this one's mine and I needed the practice lol.

These two are what got this whole thing started, and a highlight to the project's focus. Blood's expansion has files that overlap with those in the base game, so it takes some fanangling I figured was best to automate. It all snowballed from there.

A while ago I shared this bash script I was playing with, and that up there's what the thing turned into. Doesn't do any fancy boxart fetching, no cutesy transitions, and I sure ain't promising duct-taping a whole social network to it. It does function tho lol.

What started as a way to automate launching Blood's janky expansion somehow is now my boomer shooter launcher. Needs more logos, but everything on that list is launching without a problem, and quite quickly at that.

Now bad for a first time making a TUI in bash, I suppose.

when I moved from winXP to win7, my scanner didn't have drivers. Like fuck was I buying a new one. The solution was to set up a winXP VM just to use the thing.

But tell me again how Linux forces you to do roundabout shit.

From there simply adding launch commands for other games seemed like the logical conclusion. Will make mod management more convenient than shoving file paths in and out of gzdoom.ini, at the very least lol.

Not sure anyone else would want this, but eh, works pretty good for my use-case.

Blood: Cryptic Passage has custom textures, but the file names for those overlap with some textures used in the main game, so jank can happen from file overwrites. Fun!

So I keep both versions of each conflicting file in a subfolder, and that script copies the right one in before launching. Simple.

it's actually a common strat to make a custom class with skills you'll never use so you can sleep and never level up, but keep advancing the skills you do want.

the thing about Oblivion actually works in your favor considering the stupid enemy level scaling lol

Also the idea's that the extra abilities would be unlocked just like the other weapons are. Not the case as-is, I'll figure it out. In the meantime I can just pretend and not press the buttons till the game says so!

All that stuff, plus the easy mapping to Fléchettes and Rings of Repulsion for crowd control... gotta say, it does improve combat pacing a lot without necessarily making it a cakewalk. Still gotta watch your ass lol

Still unsure how to handle the Quietus' projectiles, maybe tie that to Zoom and map that to middle-click, while making it's cast slower to compensate for the convenience, we'll see.

The hammer throw's tied to Alt Fire (right-click), and both the projectile and throwing animation speeds are the same as the hammer. Maybe long-term I'll replace that hammer with a Hadoken or whatever.

Re-animated the punching so it looks way beefier (functions the same), but added the mana damage boost from the axe tied to a toggle with the Reload binding, disabling the 3rd punch double-damage for some balancing. The damage boost is also a bit lower than the axe's because of the attack speed.

I don't think it's justified to spend so much on the logistics of a trial for 3 people.

Those still latching on to windows 7, that's different. Has to be at least 4 shmucks!
