Funding cuts are eviscerating BC arts organizations. I just donated to FBCW because the Fed has:
1. taught me a ton about the craft and business of writing
2. given me a network of writers to connect with and learn from
3. launched a MATCHING campaign - my favourite way to donate

Sorry to miss the launch party for The Fiddlehead issue 304, which (I'm still pinching myself) contains an essay I wrote. I'll be downtown at Word Vancouver all day, wishing I could do two things at once. If you're free, the Fiddlehead launch is open to all: www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...

Need to leave 2025 for a while? Plant yourself in 1914, when the mighty Empress of Ireland went down in the St. Lawrence River. @evelazarus.bsky.social has written a detailed, human account of what happened during a major Canadian event that has been largely forgotten.

I love everything about this oven mitt, including the (endangered) comma after the interjection.

Gone, baby. Gone.
January 15, 2025 at 12:12 AM
Oops. Haven't read it yet and hope, bearing in mind author, there's a clever rationale for the comma.
