Parameter inference in nonlinear dynamical systems via recurrence plots and convolutional neural networks
Inferring control parameters in nonlinear dynamical systems is an important task in analyzing general dynamical behaviors, particularly in the presence of inherently deterministic chaos. Traditional a...

In our new paper, we employ network analysis to examine community disputes in post-civil war Mozambique. By analyzing a range of conflicts—from domestic disputes to wartime accusations—we reveal the deep-rooted tensions that persist in the Gorongosa district.

For all the networks, we find that random forests can predict the outbreak size or synchronization state with high accuracy, indicating that the network structure plays a fundamental role in the dynamic process.

In a new paper on arXiv, we introduce a principled Bayesian framework for identifying power-law behaviour. Our methodology does not reject the scale-free hypothesis in many cases where the KS test does, contributing to a more precise evaluation of the scale-free hypothesis.

Beyond the Power Law: Estimation, Goodness-of-Fit, and a Semiparametric Extension in Complex Networks
Scale-free networks play a fundamental role in the study of complex networks and various applied fields due to their ability to model a wide range of real-world systems. A key characteristic of these ...
