And people in the 50's were a lot smarter about vaccines than today's anti-vax nitwits are; back then people lined up in the thousands to get inoculated against diseases like polio, and yes, sure there were skeptics .. but there was nothing as stupid as the internet then to wed stupid with stupid.

Economists (like PM Mark Carney) know a lot more about the economy than Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre .. who is not only wrong about most things, but very loudly and stupidly wrong. These days his refusal to learn anything at all and instead just rely on 'common sense' is problematic.
