Like K. Rool, New Donk City was kinda spoiled via YouTube thumbnail but again, I didn’t know the context, and the context I saw was absolutely INSANE. Plus, when I blasted into that arena, I randomly said “Are we gonna drop spotlights on him?” (which sadly didn’t happen).
Armies were an even BIGGER surprise to me (I literally said “ARMIES!”.) because they appeared in the very first DKC, f**ked off for 30+ years (if you don’t count “Conker’s Pocket Tales”), and just came back HERE just because. Turns out not all of them went extinct or turned into fossils.😄

Kabooms were a huge surprise to me! They looked exactly like they were in DKC2 except their TNT barrels were spiky now. Interesting this is the ONLY DKC2 rep in here.

Klaptraps were the least surprising return but I was still glad to see them. They’ve become pretty established as a staple in the DK series for me. Plus, I was able to see them in that “Gator Golf”-looking armor. Seriously, I cannot unsee that without thinking of what I once had a a kid.😂😂😂

It was janky and fast most of the time but it is on brand for those type of levels.

Okay, I’m just gonna show him.😂. When I saw this bit of dialogue, I was like “So THAT’S why he’s/they’ve been gone for so long!”. It works so well in a meta-textual sense as well. The fact the developers even went out of their way to tie such massive loose end in the DK series is COMMENDABLE.👏👏👏👏

So when I saw THAT angle of the “root”, I immediately knew what it was. It was unmistakable and when that eye opened up, I was like “THERE HE IS.” and it was pretty funny to see Void Kong get smacked to oblivion just like that.😂

I was actually spoiled by this layer’s existence via concept art (which featured pizza but it wasn’t in the final game) prior to the game’s release and I was hoping it stayed in and I was so happy when I finally landed there.😄
