We talk about the media as if it still exists much as it always has, and it just doesn’t. But so much cultural reality requires media to exist, so we just keep pretending it does, keeping the newspaper tv and radio stations in our shows and movies while leaving the smartphones out.

I remember about 30 years ago, when I went on an elementary school field trip, you could basically fill a freezer with grunion from the take season, both from your own take and the take of others who didn't want the fish.

Ahhh, interesting! That's a beautiful beach, and makes sense about the ecosystem concerns. The grunion run I filmed, I was only able to spot a few squirming here and there.

been to the grunion run! But didn't have a license, and didn't see or smell anyone cooking. I've also filmed a video on a grunion run event in OC in my brief career as a video journalist for the OC register, but again, no eating

🔊 Fewer people are talking — but those still talking are more politically extreme
