Recording lightning with my solar panel microphone. Dramatic cracks and pops!

Each flash of light generates an electrical output from the solar cell, which is connected directly to an audio output.

Strobing LEDs at audio rate to make a synth from light 💡

This project uses a teensyLC and a custom version of my Photon Smasher mic:

Two “voice” synth made using strobing LEDs (TeensyLC) shining at a solar cell. I’ve got a third LED shining at an LDR in series on the output of the solar cell, creating a gate-like effect. Would love to add midi and/or CV control for pitch and gate next!

Putting recordings of lights through a vocoder!
