The ‘86/‘87 studio era for Prince is my favorite, the amount of absolutely high quality material he produced is astonishing.

I can’t think of anyone else who would have thrown such a joke in the middle of such a serious track, it’s brilliant.

I do think he made the right choice, but to think it replaced something as good as “Crucial” is mindblowing.

Yep, there it is.

“U can burn up my clothes, smash up my ride…well, maybe not the ride” is an absolutely stunning lyric, especially how you can hear the wink in the way he delivers it.

That’s an excellent example. ‘Think Tank’ by Blur is another one that comes to mind.

That actually makes perfect sense, I know I have albums like that but can’t seem to think of any off the top of my head.

As soon as I replied, I went back through your list to refresh on what you’ve chosen already and I think I have a pretty good idea what it’s going to be.

I kind of expected this to be in the number one spot, now I’m curious as to what passed it.

There are a lot of albums that are widely loved I don’t understand, but I will never get the appreciation for ‘Let England Shake’. Few albums have been such a crushing disappointment on first listen and the show I saw on that tour was absolute torture. (Sorry for the tangent lol.)

Definitely a lovely, underrated tune from PJ, her 90’s output is essentially flawless.

2/5 (Joy Formidable in Top, Steve Mason struggling to place in 100) is I think the best I’ve done so far on these.

Surprised to see John Grant take the win; I’m a fan but never rated his debut very highly.

It made mine as well; it was between Gulp and Big Black Delta for fifth and I ended up going Gulp.

I love that the name of the 12” mix is “Long Look”. 💜

I feel similar about Lush but the other way - ‘Lovelife’ is my go-to, I’m casually interested in the rest - but the deluxe packaging for this reissue was too lovely to pass up; still need to give it a spin, I haven’t listened to ‘Gala’ in ages.

The Sound of Arrows - Voyage

The last of my Big Four this round and unquestionably my number 1, this dream/synth-pop masterpiece is still my go-to comfort album when everything gets a bit too much.

This entire era is bonkers and brilliant, excited to see your countdown…

…whatever happened to that official release of ‘Camille’ on Third Man anyways? THAT’S the vault release I want. (Even though the digital bootleg is widely available and we’ve got all of it officially by now.)

All three of their albums are wonderful, glad you’re enjoying!

I lean ‘Title TK’ as her masterpiece but ‘Pacer’ is a close second.
