I mean, I think I *did* argue against it and call it false, as concisely as possible. People claim that the primary opposition to the right-wing are Just As Bad in pretty much every democracy. That tells me it's not factual.

I don't think that's what I am doing. I just don't think those currently controlling the conversation on AI have shown much interest in dealing with its potential socio-economic implications. They pretend to want government or society to deal with it... while paying governments not to.
November 28, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Right? Same goes for data security. Anyone who's started a job in the past 20 years knows this stuff.

So many of these guys have never had a job where they had to work for someone else, of course.

By which I mean, it seems to have a lot of support from people who also want "small government", which doesn't make much sense because UBI requires a government that's willing and able to shake companies down for the fruits of other people's labour pretty much constantly.
November 28, 2025 at 6:55 AM
I don't think an AI industry dominated by right-wing pseudo-libertarian billionaires is going to introduce any kind of redistribution of wealth unless they're forced to do so, which they're currently very much not.

UBI sounds fine on paper but seems kind of glib, tbh.

The porn parody of Romancing the Stone?
November 27, 2025 at 6:52 AM
Hopefully you appreciate that, if everyone does that, the available demand will be spread too thinly across the supply for anyone to make a living that way.

Unfortunately, I think the business world has been taken over by people who have too much money to ever have to worry about the future. They're not personally dependent on their companies remaining profitable.
November 27, 2025 at 6:49 AM
It's wild that we still hear rhetoric about "job creation" in support of companies who will actively make their product and their work environment *worse* just to avoid employing people.
November 27, 2025 at 6:42 AM
When the greater of two evils wins roughly half the time, no one has any reason to believe voters actually want less evil.

Calling the Democrats fascists is a cope. "They're all as bad as each other" is a mantra that *massively* benefits the worst people in politics... who are all Republicans.

Does demonetisation still bury videos? I hope not but I can understand why it might.
November 26, 2025 at 6:55 PM
They claimed it was an unforeseeable outcome.

These shitheads, who all claim to be huge nerds who've read all the sci-fi books Wikipedia can summarise for them, claim that it's an unforeseeable outcome for people to humanise AI.

I do wish people would talk about efficiency in terms of something other than which cuts to make. No one ever seems to want to talk about how it could be more efficient to spend money rather than withhold it, or to add some slack so that your workers aren't stressed out all the time.
November 26, 2025 at 6:45 PM
If you want someone to improve efficiency, I don't think the best guy for it is someone who could waste 99% of his money and still be a multi-billionaire.

But DOGE was never about efficiency. It was just about making unjustifiable cuts without oversight.

Kind of infuriated by Starmer's response to this.

Labour have a huge majority. They *could* introduce legislation to ban political parties from accepting crypto donations, on the grounds that they obscure the donation's point of origin.

But for some reason they haven't?
November 26, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Imagine letting a fascist regime into power because the alternative "doesn't care about me".
November 26, 2025 at 5:57 PM
From what I saw, a bunch of left-leaning voters did their usual "LESSER OF TWO EVILS IS STILL EVIL" prattle, and tried to make Israel/Gaza (the one thing that both sides were terrible on but which right-leaning voters didn't care about) into the big election issue.
November 26, 2025 at 5:55 PM
I'd express shock that someone who mocks the very idea that they could ever face justice could convinced a majority of the population to elect them, but... insert punchline.

Wait, this *wasn't* US foreign policy already?
November 25, 2025 at 8:27 AM
I remember when she said Trump was Putin's puppet and his weird panicky response was "No, no puppet you're the puppet" because she was obviously right and everyone knew it.
November 24, 2025 at 5:41 PM
People say this, but I think it's a bit naive. There were multiple points where the Trump presidency could have been prevented by something as unreliable as public opinion.

I think it's smarter to think of the GOP as a Russian asset, frankly.
November 24, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Trump can't understand why "Surrender and also give me a golden boat and say nice things about me" isn't any more appealing of a "Deal" than it was the last time.

"That's *my* power!"
