Schnabel worked alongside another prolific fuchsia breeder, Horace Tiret, both growing their seedlings at Victor Reiter Jr’s La Rochette Nursery in San Francisco. 2/2

I can expand more later but the chairs will remain as long as they can. The Fuchsiarium is a pleasant place to sit, especially when those occasional rays of sunshine pierce through our winter drab. 2/2

The same sort of habitats in which some Enclianda Section fuchsias, another flower very popular with hummingbird, are often found. In fact, I’m planning on setting one out on the sage’s leeward side for a hummer twofer this week. 3/3

Blooming in late autumn this far north, it’s native to higher elevations in the montane pine-oak forests of central Mexico and is an absolute favorite of hummingbirds. 2/3

Fuchsia ‘Martha Werle’ remains anything but silent, however, and is a lovely living monument to both Martha and her husband, Henry. 6/6
