This is also why Dark Souls 2 is so divisive, because it's the one most willing to punish people for trying to minmax it and play in a single-minded "pure" way. Shrine of Amana really ain't a problem if you just have like ANY willingness to diversify your tactics and use any ranged weapon lol.

They patched it to remove some enemies and gates from the final few hours of the game, which is interesting, wonder if it changes the feel. Hinako's violence is imo important to balance the cutscenes where she is mostly a victim with no agency. The game would be miserable without the combat.

Weird how similar this is to Astra Yao and Evelyn's story in Zenless Zone Zero, to the point of them even having this same back and forth cooking. Wonder if there's a common ancestor they're both inspired by?
