✨ We enjoyed the game Gems of Iridescia! A worker‑placement game of mining gems, restoring relics, and pushing your luck toward the throne with secret objectives, dice‑driven mining, and the Merchant adding fun elements. A nice one to play with the family and created by a Montreal designer! 💎🎲

Hot take 🔥 the mystic vale card crafting mechanism is one of the fiddliest and most annoying mechanism to be unleashed on board gaming in recent years.
One thing I always thought about was recasting myself as an identity-centric board game commentator (a crude example being the ‘arab meeple’) but I just never felt comfortable with that, if my content wasn’t interesting or useful why would knowing my personal background make a difference?

If people play a board game once then sell it, it’s ultimately the responsibility of the creators of that game (designers, artists, publishers, marketers etc).
You never expect people to try your app 5-8 times to make sure they can credibly say they don’t like it.

I respect the appeal of getting off screen, but sometimes when I want to maximise my gaming experience, an app for narrative elements, tutorials and admin can be a fantastic addition.

Played Emberheart once this weekend, sadly it fell a bit flat for me. There was a great, core variable worker bidding mechanism that I enjoyed, but it felt like there was a shade too much fiddliness for the depth of the game boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/45...
