When I read The Garden of Abdul Gasazi (with its "what is reality" theme) to my children, I wondered if the dog in the illustrations was a nod to The Land of Laughs.

The Cat Has Nine Lives (1968). This was Ula Stockl's graduation feature in film school. Incredible that she made a movie this beautiful as a student.
