I was only saying yesterday that Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin might be a good shout for SF? Genuinely historic figure - involved in GFA negotiations, and first SF TD to take Dáil seat. Gaeilgóir, softly spoken... A Republican Michael D?

I don't think the winning candidate has emerged yet, and it will be very interesting to see where FF and SF land.

Humphreys is only 1% ahead of Connolly and only 4% ahead of Bertie in the early polling, for whatever that's worth.

My take - Heather Humphreys is much more popular with the FG faithful than she will be with the wider voting public. She will poll respectably but will not win.

Forgot my headphones. 2 hours of public transport. Unimaginable pain.

Arrived at the train station to discover that my regular service now departs 5 mins earlier on a new timetable. Which was two minutes previously. Superb.

Train from Gorey cancelled this morning, bus transfer to Bray DART station, DART into town at rush hour... The urge to be back commuting by bike has never been stronger

Marty Morrisey talking about a Tipp player about to turn 31 like it's some sort of miracle the decrepit old fart is even on the pitch. #AllIreland

True! His bigger concern will be every Cork constituent he's ever met coming out of the woodwork looking for help with tickets!

This is, quite simply, not an issue that the Taoiseach should be dealing with or even concerned about

There has been calls to suspend motorway tolls for fans travelling to Croke Park for Sunday's All-Ireland final.

With tens of thousands of Cork and Tipperary supporters set to hit the road, campaigners say lifting the tolls would ease tailbacks and ensure a barrier-free journey.

Oh, I actually really enjoy Seamus' reporting. He approaches it with the right spirit and tone, though. I just can't deal with off-the-wall comments being reported straight without interrogation or challenge anymore!

The Local Democracy Reporting Scheme, which supports local media to report on Council meetings, has to go.

The ignorance was bliss. I'm simply seeing too much nonsense chat from Council chambers now. Off the wall stuff. We need to go back to a simpler time when nobody cared about Council meetings.

Mairead McGuinness is a fine politician and a serious operator, no doubt about it, but I suspect that Fine Gael are about to find out (the hard way, again) that Financial Services and Capital Markets Union won't butter many parsnips with the broad Irish electorate.

You'd be hard pressed to find an economic or societal issue today that doesn't have a foundation or a massive amplifying effect by the austerity years - a penny-wise, pound-foolish economic experiment that did more harm than good.

A classic between Clare and Cork in the Munster Championship on Easter Sunday. Just as the Good Lord would have wanted.

Hospitality businesses not opening on Sundays - especially Bank Holiday Sundays, just boggles my mind.
