This makes for a difficult listen but is so important, the brilliant @ellychapple.bsky.social and myself on The Skies We're Under podcast talking about Ella's human rights claim and the impact of unlawful care proceedings on their family open.spotify.com/episode/2rRf...

Sorry to hear that Fiona, not surprised, so much appears to be being dismantled in plain sight, but am glad he's well 👊

Call out for case studies: I am looking to talk to disabled people who have experienced access issues on any part of the TFL rail network. (And that can include people who have taken up an Equality Act claim.) For a @londonspy.bsky.social piece. #JournoRequest

Niiiice, I long to be able to wear hand knits for more than 10mins without being too hot. Think I live in the wrong place really.

It was low yesterday too, but today it’s like we’re actually living in it 🫣
In the foreground a deep sea wall covered in lichen, then the sea with some large rocks is still and greeny blue. The top of the photo shows heavy grey and white clouds with a sliver of light along the horizon.

Serious Christmas cloud cover in Torbados this year; Xmas Eve was beautiful but today is like living in the cloud. Out walking for an hour and my hair looks like I’ve just washed it. Hoping everyone else’s weather is clearer/brighter.
A heavy layer of fog/mist fills the air; you can make out the outline of Oddicombe Beach on the left and some bushes in the front of the photo but the rest of the usual view is obscured by misty atmospheric grey air. The top of a wrinkled forehead with mousey grey hair in a small quiff and tied into a pony tail. The hair is covered in water droplets. The background is cream bathroom tiles.

Yeh I’d never heard of your discipline until reading @lucygobag.bsky.social’s book, but strong parallels with how I see bereaved ppl treated when ‘systems’ fail them.

Also parallels to flawed fight/remission narratives in cancer care. So much harm from fear of nuance and messy reality/grief.

Has Sid got a new ball for xmas, or is it just kept very clean?

Here’s a story about how researching the racist origins of Jingle Bells helped me uncover some antique family drama.

Quiz: what is jingle bells about?

A) Christmas
B) Street racing
C) Picking up women
D) A vehicle accident?

Thanks for sharing @lucygobag.bsky.social I wonder whether the discourse of recovery is about making people (possibly mostly the helpers/system/society) feel able to sweep things aside and 'move on'. Support is so often time limited to a 'process' but like any grief the reality is much more nebulous

yESSSS, always happy to talk PFDs or anything inquest related, is such a niche area and rarely get to geek out about it

Usually somewhere around the 500 mark, some years less, some more. That’s according to Chief Coroner Annual Report and/or number uploaded to judiciary website, but we know not all get uploaded. A big year this year.

I think I've got it, well I've got one that looks like it. Thanks Charlotte.

Just read my 693rd Prevention of Future Deaths Report this year. Only:

16 relate to learning disabled people (who aren't autistic)
3 relate to learning disabled, autistic people
16 relate to autistic people (without a learning disability)

5% of all PFDs, feels way too low to me #NotFullyHuman
Two red felt ginger bread outlines sitting in wheelchairs. Text is hand stitched on them. The one on the left reads: CIPOLD 2013 43% of DEATHS of people with learning disabilities were UNEXPECTED, the one on the right reads: CIPOLD 2013 42% of DEATHS of people with learning disabilities were PREMATURE

HELLLLO DARLING, hope you and your darlings are all ready for the season. Your post the other day had inspired me to think about diving into the attic to try find my chimes, haven't got there yet, but may still happen.

Yeh think was similar here. Although increases the chances of considering the Boxing Day Dip 🤣

That cabbage sounds divine, has been scribbled on the back of an envelope and may be tried over the festive period. Yum. Hope it's amazing.

You’re the US Marines band at the White House and Mavis Staples 👑 walks into the room so you start playing "I’ll Take You There" and this happens👇

Isn't it ridiculous, walked into Torbados town centre this morning and ended up with such a sweat on, only wearing a tee and a zipped hoodie. December with September temps.

Thanks for re-sharing @alexadwilson.bsky.social few things bring more joy (to my dark heart at least) than military bands breaking out into other music. This is fab.

(When my BIL's regiment got Freedom of Chepstow the band played Lady Gaga and its still my fave rendition).
