A great example here of how it simply does not matter what happens, and how the public come to be so disastrously misinformed on more or less everything. When all our media outlets feed the public much the same shit day in, day out, then it’s no wonder Yer Da has developed Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

A woman in Saskatchewan needs surgery for a parathyroid issue and is being offered MAiD instead.

There’s no one in the province who can perform the procedure and the government won’t pay to send her elsewhere.

This is why disability advocates warn about assisted dying

I think Beth Upton is a fucking hero for putting up with the shit she put up with in the NHS Fife case, but we seriously need to legislate to make the law on trans people and sex and gender in the UK less nonsense.

The Home Office also says it would cost too much to collect this information. It is evident that Labour, like its Tory predecessors, is making policy intended to crack down on protest rights based not on actual evidence, but on a culture war against protesters

also always deeply funny that every sci-fi video game from 1999-2014 was trying to be Aliens, and copied everything except the...working class woman protagonist
Everyone imitates Tolkien all the time except when it comes to the one way it would really matter: making the protagonist of your novel for children a short, fat, 50-year-old man who doesn't want to do anything.

Radio 4 and BBC and Channel 4 News and all the papers completely skewing the Peggie story so your average person will have no idea what actually happened. Doesn’t this make you furious? Integrity in journalism is dead, not just in the US

I don't think there has been a single week this year where the BBC didn't grotesquely misconstrue the basic facts of a situation to amplify a fascist message, and I really think we need to escalate our resistance to that beyond letters of complaint.

but if the press starts doing actual journalism now they'd have to admit everything they've been doing up to this point has just been PR for their chosen bigotries

so now all they do and can ever do is more PR for those same 5 bigots every time a trans related story happens.

The general public switches off when they see trans related shit cos they don't care. The only people reading all of this bullshit is annoyed trans people and outright delusional bigots.

If the reporting on the Peggie decision tells us anything, it should be that the way news gets reported in this country has little to do with truth, and much more to do with narrative - as well as whose heavily spun press release lands on journos desks first.

The tribunal seemed very unimpressed by the fact that Peggie waited around to challenge Upton, and considered this an impermissible manifestation of her beliefs.
An important point to come out of the Sandie Peggie case is that 'gender critical' employees can't take matters into their own hands and confront trans employees. If they do that it is likely to be harassment/ bullying/ a hate incident.

Quite a lot of, simply, lying and unjustified valorisation of a nasty person on the front of papers today. Personally I put a lot of stock in honest reporting but I guess when I do such things as a hobby rather than my job I don't have to dance to the whims of the hate campaign gripping the nation.
