Yes to be clear, my comment was about the rhetoric of difficult decisions. I’m a low enough earner to be only minimally impacted by this budget. Given the state of the front pages today, however, it’s clear that Reeves might as well have gone much harder on the rich and actually merited the reaction

Well yes it is easy because most of us don’t have the kind of wealth or assets to need to worry about this, and that’s the bloody point. Moving from a £1.5m home to a £1m home? Oh no! What horror!

When they say they’ve had to make “difficult decisions” on spending and taxation they mean difficult for us, not difficult for them.
