They aren’t trading either……yet.…..so, free agency is the best bet for TOR and depth.

Bradish is waaaaaaay more consistent.

I concur with all the Gunnar takes. And I hope you are correct with the Gunnar cost and hopefully we extend him before free agency.
December 6, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Then Gunnar at 700 plus mil, and even less payroll flexibility?
December 6, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Yes, I understand you don’t believe he is special or a top player in the game. Just inflation from a class without a pure star/top 5 player. I get that. I also understand that the contract will be underwater before halfway through the contract. Do you believe his contract at 400 will age much worse,

Good gif, will Skubal take our insane amount of money over NY, Chicago, LA, or Texas if the money is close or the same?
December 6, 2025 at 4:33 PM
I don’t think we have that opportunity in Baltimore if the big spenders are involved. Maybe, if they are homegrown, but our homegrown players have Boras as an agent.
December 6, 2025 at 4:29 PM
You sign Tucker to win now regardless of the future. Hopefully we resign Gunnar in the future, but yes, you have a star in place in case Gunnar leaves.
December 6, 2025 at 4:27 PM
If there is an odd offseason where we have a chance to get a star in Baltimore, we may need to take advantage…..especially in this window to compete and win.
December 6, 2025 at 4:19 PM
I’m not saying either is the best way to go, but knowing Baltimore, the big free agents are more likely to go to the big cities or close to home. The reality is we will lose Gunnar in 3 years. Maybe there is a cap in the next agreement. But, all things equal, Baltimore usually is second fiddle.
December 6, 2025 at 4:18 PM
With the farm we have, are we sure thats is the case? We may have talent to replace Gunnar with the recent drafts/international classes. Not saying anyone would be as good as Gunnar, but possibly a good player to supplement the replacement.
December 6, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Can Tucker be a Top 10-15 player in baseball for the next 7 years? If so, that may be worth it.
December 6, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Tucker probably isn’t the guy. But, I hope that contract wouldn’t be under water till about 35 years old.
December 6, 2025 at 4:08 PM
The question is, are we going to be able to pay these players before they reach free agency? Boras may not let that happens. If not we may risk losing all of them and not have a franchise player to rely on o lead the organization.
December 6, 2025 at 4:06 PM
Payroll flexibility will always be a concern if we pay people. If we pay Gunnar and Westburg, we would have to worry about payroll flexibility. If we have to pay for 2 position players and a pitcher, 2 pitchers and a player, regardless, we would need to sacrifice paying other positions.
December 6, 2025 at 4:04 PM
It would send a message to free agents that we are willing to spend and spend big. It would be a message to Gunnar, we are willing to spend for help around you. And, it’s having a superstar in place, if Gunnar decides to leave.
December 6, 2025 at 3:49 PM
I agree with both of your assessments. However, what about the scenario where Gunnar is going to free agency regardless of how much we throw at him? Gunnar is more deserving, homegrown and just a better player. But, if he goes to free agency, imagine this team without Gunnar and no Tucker.

Didn’t expect it anyways.

It also seems that he Mets are in on every starting pitcher. So, are they actually the favorites, or waiting for the price and years to come down and for others take advantage?
December 5, 2025 at 9:45 PM
Maybe, because some teams are less hesitant to spend or are cutting payroll. We don’t have those limitations. It all about closing the deal.
