We're now looking to understand how circadian rhythms affect pain in preclinical models, dissecting the mechanisms involved at the molecular, cellular, and systems levels. Super excited about all the directions this work will take in the years to come!

It wouldn't have been possible without the support of @cpn-rdc.bsky.social who provided the seed funding for this project. Now funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, our www.circapain.ca study seeks to expand these findings across pain conditions.

Collaborators include @qinglingduan.bsky.social, @gabriellepage.bsky.social, Luda Diatchenko, Zihang Lu, and Manon Choinière -- a true team effort across @queensuresearch.bsky.social, @umontreal.ca, and @mcgill.ca.

This work was led by three talented PhD students (Doriana Taccardi, Amanda Zacharias, and Hailey Gowdy) who brought their expertise to elevate this work to new heights. Our patient-partners (Lesley Singer and Jennifer Daly-Cyr) were instrumental in study design and analysis.

We've published our very first clinical study where we found that chronic low back pain rhythmicity contributes to biopsychosocial outcomes, including opioid use, via the neutrophil degranulation pathway t.co/0yFdJemScW

Was at a great talk, an interesting gene name came up, put it into the #nationalcancerinstitute Genomic Data Commons site and got this. Has this warning always been here? Because some of the warning message comes across as quite Orwellian...
