More Bruce photos from my impromptu trip to Los Angeles
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
What does one do when one gets laid off? Flies to LA to photograph one's favorite band of course!
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Sudden change of weekend plans...I'm off to LA to see Bruce Dickinson and the House Band of Hell at The Wiltern for their final show of the North American tour!!
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Definitely had to pinch myself last night...I got to photograph my number one artist of all time. I've been a fan of Bruce Dickinson longer than I've been a fan of Iron Maiden. I've waited over 20 years to see this man tour his solo material, and he was finally in my hometown last night.

WARNING: Geomagnetic K-index of 7 or greater expected
Valid From: 2025 Sep 30 0456 UTC
Valid To: 2025 Sep 30 1200 UTC
Warning Condition: Onset
NOAA Scale: G3 or greater

NOAA Space Weather Scale descriptions can be found at

Potential Impacts: Area of impact primarily poleward of 50 degrees Geomagnetic Latitude.
Induced Currents - Power system voltage irregularities possible, false alarms may be triggered on some protection devices.
Spacecraft - Systems may experience surface charging; increased drag on low Earth-orbit satellites and orientation problems may occur.
Navigation - Intermittent satellite navigation (GPS) problems, including loss-of-lock and increased range error may occur.
Radio - HF (high frequency) radio may be intermittent.
Aurora - Aurora may be seen as low as Pennsylvania to Iowa to Oregon. :Product: 3-Day Forecast

A. NOAA Geomagnetic Activity Observation and Forecast

The greatest observed 3 hr Kp over the past 24 hours was 5 (NOAA Scale
G1).
The greatest expected 3 hr Kp for Sep 30-Oct 02 2025 is 4.00 (below NOAA
Scale levels).

NOAA Kp index breakdown Sep 30-Oct 02 2025

             Sep 30 Oct 01 Oct 02
00-03UT 4.00 2.67 1.33
03-06UT 3.67 2.00 1.33
06-09UT 3.67 2.00 1.33
09-12UT 3.00 3.00 1.67
12-15UT 2.67 2.67 1.33
15-18UT 2.33 2.67 1.33
18-21UT 2.33 2.67 1.67
21-00UT 2.67 3.00 1.67

Rationale: No G1 (Minor) or greater geomagnetic storms are expected. No
significant transient or recurrent solar wind features are forecast.

B. NOAA Solar Radiation Activity Observation and Forecast

Solar radiation, as observed by NOAA GOES-18 over the past 24 hours, was
below S-scale storm level thresholds.

Solar Radiation Storm Forecast for Sep 30-Oct 02 2025

              Sep 30 Oct 01 Oct 02
S1 or greater 5% 5% 5%

Rationale: No S1 (Minor) or greater solar radiation storms are expected.
No significant active region activity favorable for radiation storm
production is forecast.

C. NOAA Radio Blackout Activity and Forecast

Radio blackouts reaching the R1 levels were observed over the past 24
hours. The largest was at Sep 29 2025 0145 UTC.

Radio Blackout Forecast for Sep 30-Oct 02 2025

              Sep 30 Oct 01 Oct 02
R1-R2 55% 55% 55%
R3 or greater 10% 10% 10%

Rationale: R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) radio blackouts are likely, with a
slight chance for R3 (Strong), over 30 Sep - 02 Oct due to the flare
potential from multiple complex regions on the solar disk.

My SDS (storm deprivation syndrome) is kicking in already, and it's not even October...

This is going to be a long winter
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Couldn't get enough of the fall colors last weekend, so came back for more. Definitely at peak this weekend
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
I'm not much of a morning person, but I'm really glad I made an exception for this EPIC sunrise near Leadville, CO yesterday morning.
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Hang in there :) Get well soon!
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Yeah it's pretty sticky at first, but loosens up as the antibiotics start doing their job. Also, if you have a nebulizer (you can get them without an RX), nebulize some sterile isotonic saline...that'll also help loosen the gunk up.

Sorry, I have a lot of experience with pneumonia haha
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
OH NO!! Get well soon! I'd highly recommend the pneumonia vaccine once you recover. I used to get PNA a lot and haven't had it since getting the vaccine. Lots of deep breathing exercises, and gentle percussion on your chest and back to loosen all the gunk!

Me too...hard not to being a USAF vet
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Getting some more practice shots before tomorrow's air show. Need to dial in a few settings, but overall pretty happy with the results
ghosttrainphoto.bsky.social
Things may be spicy politically, but...I still get nostalgic whenever I see/hear the Thunderbirds. Reminds me of getting off shift at the Nellis AFB hospital at 0600 and trying to sleep through their practice runs each morning.

Had a great day hiking up near Leadville yesterday! Trying my hand at some landscape photography. Still learning what works for editing and composition, but I like the cinematic edits with grand sweeping views.

We are horrified to learn of the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Political violence has no place in democracy. The foundation of democracy rests on the principle that differences can be debated vigorously, but peacefully, without intimidation or acts of violence.

Well that was a dream come true...got to photograph The Offspring! Been a fan of theirs since my angsty teenage years.
