📈 Over time, players’ talk changed showing learning. They reflected more, supported one another, and took responsibility. Teamwork became a #sharedmeaning that emerged through #language, #interaction and culture

🗣️ The coach’s role was key. By structuring conversations and applying cooperative learning principles — interdependence, accountability, promotive interaction, social skills & group processing — he defined the #learningzone for teamwork.

💡 At first, cooperative activities alone didn’t lead to teamwork. Players lacked a shared understanding of roles, accountability and constructive communication. It became clear that teamwork has to be guided and co-constructed (obviously, teamwork is learned & has to be taught)

🔍 We followed a #youthsport basketball team (13-yr-olds) over a full season. By analysing 69 locker-room conversations, we examined how teamwork develops through #communication between coach and players, using a #sociocultural lens.
