What guitarist is so unique and recognizable that his or her sound or tone, might as well be “trademarked”?

For folk magic is often a serious of fragile truces with the land, a series of appeasements made to nature’s legion of spirits. The cunning folk are diplomats to enfolding otherworlds. Few in the Foreign Office could match their skill. - Dr. M. Benn, 1981 lecture at Woden College, Weychester

Day 2 of #HooklandChristmasTree decoration. We gently take the Master of Moss from box. He’s old and fragile, made from twig, clay and clumps of Moss gathered on Barrowcross. We find him a respectful place on the tree and hope he sleeps the season. His waking would be terrible

Dear Amazon -

I expected the books I bought recently to sit on my shelves for an extended period, waking me feel guilty about not having got round to reading them.

They have matched my expectations.
Amazon, please stop asking me if books I bought month ago met my expectations. I still have unread books I bought in 2012. Be real.

I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

There comes a point when we begin to encounter more polite, respectful and well-mannered ghosts than we do people. This is why I tell those who ask that I prefer the company of spectres to that of the living. - #CJosiffe #Ghosts

Well, Plato thought everyone was wrong except him, so...
I just learned that Plato thought debates were stupid and dangerous. He wrote that debates are not about truth or philosophy, they’re about ego, pride and winning at any cost. I gotta read Plato’s Dialogues. Another reason humanities are important. They are always relevant

Winter conducts its slow seduction. It has disrobed the trees, its cold kisses make them shiver. Revelation of their wooden bones offers us a new, intimate language. They speak of swelling dark and coming ice. They speak their lover's secret names. – #EmilyCBanting, 1981 #Winter
