I know I'm a month late but according to their environmental reports from the Proton Foundation it is powered by ~75-85% renewable energy and their servers are designed to use half the amount of water to cool them and the spent water gets recycled into irrigation of local farmland

FYI Google walked that back. From the sounds of it sideloading will still be a thing. You'll (likely) just need to flip a developer setting or run an ADB command once to enable the function
