Now that the news cycle has died down, I'm going to give a less biased view of what happened and how I personally feel about it. To do that, I have to put my opinion in as simple terms as possible.

I really want to know if there are any further lore implications from Pokopia for the rest of the Pokemon series, but I refuse to get that game unless it gets a full physical release and/or it goes on sale for at least 50 percent off. No game deserves to be trapped in a game key card.

Yeah, the game looks really fun, it's a shame there's no way to actually own it.
I'm actually stupid excited for Pokopia purely on it being made by the DQ Builders team
All the immediate comparisons to Animal Crossing aren't necessarily invalid, but it shows not enough people played Builders. Such a gem those two games are!
