Me, approaching the staff to ask about the shuttle service: "Do I need to pay for the shuttle?"

Staff 1: "Yes of course you have to pay!"

Me: "Huh?!"

Staff 1: “Must pay la! Singapore where got free one, ask transport minister to give you transport vouchers, hahahaha”*

* Translation: There isn't a choice, it's peak hour (when everyone is travelling and the train system is under great strain). I've been shouting the whole voice and my voice is hoarse.

also, collecting samples from the zone is fascinating work. being a lab-based scientist myself, i could never imagine venturing outdoors for sample collection...
