The circle is done with a spotlight+cookie since the Mimic also needs line-of-sight of the player. If I used a decal projector, it would cast a circle in areas the Mimic couldn't attack. This way, with the help of some light layers, it only casts the circle on the floor and the walls cast shadows :)
