Have you ever come across a racial slur that's so ancient and so obscure that you don't even know it's even a slur when you first hear it?

That's what happened to the person who tried captioning this disturbing scene from Bill Moyers "Rosedale" documentary depicting racial tensions in Queens.

Those SOBs really went there, hard.
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

This deal is such a senseless capitulation that even the establishment frontrunner is calling it out for what it is.
Pathetic. This isn’t a deal. It’s a surrender. Don’t bend the knee!

Trying to wrap my head around the latest cave by the dems RE: the shutdown deal, and should I assume the dems interpreted the electoral wins last week as a mandate to keep sucking?

If I had no principles, I'd get rich quick fleeing trump supporters
A pro-MAGA website that urged supporters to fund a database unmasking Charlie Kirk critics took tens of thousands in crypto—then vanished, infuriating donors.

Why should we trust the police for anything anymore?
A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

I'm so excited to share my first article written for @animeherald.com.

This year has marked the 20th anniversary of the Japanese drama "Densha Otoko" (Train Man), an endearing show based on an at least partly true story. If you ever find it, please watch it, it is wonderful.
Densha Otoko, 20 Years Later: Why the TV Drama is Still Great in an Ever-Changing Otaku Landscape
Twenty years later, the TV drama adaptation of Densha Otoko remains undefeated in the realm of Japanese drama shows. It’s a wonderful depiction of real anime otaku and their interests that manages to ...

I read stories like this, and remember that the rubber-stamp supreme court put up a firewall only protecting the fed chief against these kinds of firings because they wanted to protect the economy.

this is why I find the "don't give up on yourself, just follow your dreams" school of "you can make it in games/localization/subdiscpline" to be well-intentioned but generally bad advice. many people cannot afford to just grind until they make it. 1/3
creative industries as a whole have a class problem. you generally have to:

✨afford to be able to work for free to get initial experience
✨not have caring/financial responsibilities that might prevent you from opportunities
✨generally have some support system for insecurity/redundancy risks
The UK games industry has had a huge class problem since its inception. Private school kids with generational wealth were first through the door and overwhelmingly hired people from similar backgrounds. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Now it's a Tuesday.

Kennedy: “Nazi, please!”

Gutfeld: “Thank God you did a hard ‘i’ there.”

Reposting this because it seems relevant today for some reason.
I've spoken with executives in the loc industry who have admitted straight to me that they're intentionally publishing sub-par translations because audiences "are okay with them". Read: will still pay for a service even if the translation is bad.

We need to prove to them that we won't.
