That's funny! Yeah, I know there were small ensembles recorded in the swing era, sometimes, but when I think swing, I think big bands first, as they were so dominant in the period. Also, most of my own personal experience with swing tunes, I got playing in big bands as a teenager and undergrad.

I even found it in a "real book" and worked it up a week or so ago with a couple of backing tracks I found online, but even that didn't make the loop stop!

Maybe I need to transcribe that fun tenor solo. (I'm guessing it's Ben Webster? I'm not super familiar with his work, though.)

They all went by Gordon, though, like my dad & grandpa did, whereas I've always gone by Gord.

(For that matter, my son's first name is Gordon, named after my dad, though he goes by his middle name.)

LOL I don't know that I've earned the definite article, but there's been a few of us, including the bassist for a Scottish rock band called Beggars Opera (though I see now he passed a year ago) and a now long-dead immigrant to Canada who published a memoir in 1915.
