This is, no joke, my favorite part about consulting. I love finding the engineer (there’s always at least one) who has been trying to say the thing everyone has been ignoring and then getting to make the recommendation they’ve been trying to make and have it actually be listened to

This is not something to fear, but it is something to plan for. Support disability rights and ADA compliance with everything you have.

And if you’re spending money redesigning a home, make sure it will also suit you if your mobility/ balance / etc decreases. Because it will.

From 1875 to 1975, 6000 ships were lost on the Great Lakes.

Since November 10, 1975, zero ships have been lost.

Much of this is owed to technological advances, not just in shipbuilding and navigation, but also, crucially, in weather forecasting.
