Beans belong in chili? Is this controversial?

Luckily I’m a Texan

Maybe they're saving their funds for some splashes (Luis Arraez and Emilio Pagan so every single Twins fan is simultaneously happy and furious)

That number is projected to fall by about 4M if they nontender Larnach today.

This may be them doing their classic floor-setting. But it’s also hard not to worry that this might just be the path they’re taking. The worry may be silly, but a sub-100M payroll is feasible from here

How much is cheap pohlad paying you to run PR

I can’t imagine the Twins intend to open the season with Jackson as their 1C
November 21, 2025 at 4:42 PM
Jackson will probably be paid half of what an equivalent catcher would in free agency, and he can defend. Maybe he turned a corner in 2025 that explains his above-average OPS. There’s some risk in Eeles being the guy to get him, but also Eeles is supported by folk hero narratives

I’m less knowledgeable about MiLB pitchers, but going through the hitter names available, I think 2 makes sense. I always advocate for a pitcher, no matter what year, but given their position and their need for infield and catcher depth, it makes sense to also dip into that pool.

I need to do some searching but similar to the shortstop conversation, if your options are a R5 backup, a waiver claim like Rortvedt, or a 3M veteran like Tom Murphy, I’m definitely open to it.

It’ll also be interesting to see if any of those unprotected guys are available via trade

Tbh I wouldn’t hate them taking a chance on him if the alternatives are Fitzgerald/Kreidler/Eeles or some other MiLB. I’d prefer the #4 R5 pick goes to a frisky pitcher at this point, though, and I’m skeptical Miller falls to the second round.

*even get

I’ve spent the better part of a week trying to figure out what the breakeven point for Miller’s offense would need to be for him to be an asset as a backup shortstop. Could you deal with a Simba/Vazqi .550 OPS? Could Miller ever get to .550?
