A friend’s dining room chair leg cracked when someone leaned back. Cracked at a weak spot, where there was knot. Used Titebond III glue. For a clamp, I used very tightly wrapped nylon cord, which worked amazingly well.

My job is remote. I learned our next on-site collaboration week is in Dec and so I started working on my presentations. One is work related. One is home DIY; it’s about a multi-month long topsy-turvy mystery about why varying circuit breakers randomly trip at my friend’s home.
PS: on-site is fun

I feel bad. I was reading about regex backtracking and DoS vulnerabilities. I tried (a+)+b on an online regex testing site to see just how slow parsing is … and the site went unresponsive. Sorry.

What did I do today? Hint.: The painting in the Sistine Chapel has *tremendous* depth - portions appear to be 3D. As just one example, these pillar platforms looked fully three dimensional.

Sister and husband moved near us. Their new home has 2 odd wall switches that should have been located elsewhere. Or should had been 3-ways. I fixed the situation w Lutron Caseta wireless switches. Sister very happy w outcome.

Our SleepNumber mattress was on edge for months, air bladders had fallen to one edge. I flipped it bottom side up, unzipped the bottom, rearranged the bladders. Thankfully bladders were labeled ThisSideToBottom. Very quickly flipped it over - like a thick pancake - so parts didn’t have time to shift

Helped my son remove lots of plaster and lathe in a room he was refurbishing. We bagged the debris. Bags were really heavy. Made a sled mechanism to lower the bags from the 2nd floor to ground level. Worked great.

Made cardboard tunnels for our dog. Taped several boxes together. The maze including a tray for a Scooby snack and a hole where dog can retrieve said snack. Eye holes don’t align and where for added silliness. Worked great and was fun for everyone. Each time I dropped in a treat the tong appeared

I tired the new GitHub.com UI for a day but turned it off for now. One reason was there were a few keyboard quirks that frustrated me.

Sister is moving from US Virgin Islands to my town in Illinois. She’s buying household items online and they arrive at my front porch. Today I need to go to a nearby town to pickup her turkey fryer. I’ll probably bring Wiggles.

Sister wanted fresh Windows 11 on her hp laptop. Crapware slowing it down way too much. I was surprised that the needed Intel storage drivers were not in current Windows 11 iso downloads. I had to add manually add the intel RST drivers during the install.

At work we have annual reviews. They’re taken pretty seriously. I need to finish my self-review portion by tomorrow. So today I gathered all the facts and details. Tomorrow I need only type / prettify it (~ an hr). Wheww.

Grandson’s bday. We gifted him a make-your-own treasure chest. built from 2 vanity drawers that were in our stock. Once built, we disassembled it all and kitted the parts. His dad will have to help a bit with the screws. We included an instruction manual.

Grandson wouldn’t eat his chicken. I asked if he knew of the cluckcluck game. No? Oh well you make a tiny cluck-cluck sound with ea bite of chicken. needs to be so quiet that others will be unsure what they heard & if they heard anything at all. He asked if can wing flap a little. Absolutely. gone

I volunteer at an annual picnic. Last yr I did roll-about trash emptying, had a trash truck w hydraulic light-n-flip plate, was fun to operate. This year no truck, just a roll-off dumpster. The job sucked. Messy. Exhausting. Dangerous.
