In the future, CYR61 may serve as a biomarker for IGF1-driven tumors, aiding in patient stratification and treatment planning. Stay tuned for additional development in our studies!

We propose CYR61 as a potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer. Our observations that CYR61 expression is driven by IGF1 and contributes to cell growth via PI3K/AKT signaling, targeting this axis could suppress prostate cancer progression in more advanced models.

Happy to announce that the results of my main postdoctoral research project have been published! 🎉

Here, we dived and built upon others' efforts in the characterization of CYR61 in known prostate cancer cell models. This matricellular protein is special but challenging to study.

Today September 24 is World Cancer Research Day 🧫👩🏻‍🔬, and a week ago I participated as a volunteer for the @AmericanCancer Cancer Action Network #CancerLobbyDay.

I advocated for increase in cancer research funds alongside survivors and advocates.

I was able to mentored over 20 students who are eager to learn from our experiences and are motivated to pursue a career in cancer research. The future is bright!

I also had the opportunity to give back as an Associate Member Council Member for the AACR. This year we had a record of high schoolers and undergraduates who participated at our career development sessions.

I am honored and happy to belong to a scientific community that thrives and that lift each other up. I am grateful to my mentors and colleagues, who in this difficult times have showed up for me and career.

In moments like this, where funding for research has been impacted greatly, the power of connection within our scientific community has strengthened.

This year at the @theaacr.bsky.social I wanted to intentionally create connections and re-connect with mentors and colleagues.

This session brought us ESSENTIALS takeaways into the importance of bridging the gap in representation of patients in cancer clinical trials. Proud of #AACRAMC previous council member Dr. Islam and fellow panelists for such an important session.
