Nothing takes me out of a piece of fiction like characters being thrust into an outside context problem and not immediately probing the rules of their new reality as soon as basic survival is secured. I need more media where the protagonist's reaction is "I'm going to science the shit out of this."

He couldn't stay conscious long enough to finish eating or drinking. He spent several days in the ale storehouse, surrounded by fellow dorfs, struggling to drink then passing out, over and over, until he finally died.

Worst I ever had was a guard who got his eyes gouged out during a goblin attack. Blindness wasn't a problem and he was still mobile, so never hospitalized, but the pain was so intense he'd pass out every few steps.

I can sometimes manage faint ghost images, but not if I focus on it. It requires Magic Eye levels of deliberate not focusing. Or good drugs.

I can give you as detailed a description of the horse as that guy did, but I'm not actually seeing a horse, I'm just relaying the contents of the file my brain handed me when asked to imagine a horse. (It was a black horse, from the shoulders up, but otherwise the same, mountain and all)
